Can I Drive A Motability Car If I Have Points On My Licence?

If you or any other driver has points on their driving licence this will need to be disclosed when you apply for a Motability vehicle. You are also required to inform the insurer if any points are issued during the term of the lease agreement. Failure to do so could be considered a breach of the lease agreement. After notification, the insurer will confirm if the driver is eligible for cover and able to drive the vehicle.

Drivers with some of the more serious motoring convictions, licence endorsements, fixed penalty notices or disqualifications within the last 5 years are unlikely to be insured to drive the vehicle.

If in doubt, questions about insurance should be directed to the insurer of all Motability cars, Direct Line Motability Insurance on 0300 037 3737.
