How Old Does A Child Have To Be To Be Eligible For The Motability Scheme?

The Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) can be awarded to disabled children from the age of three. As the child’s parent or guardian, you can order a Motability car to use on their behalf as soon as their allowance has been confirmed. The Motability car can be ordered in the run up to the childs third birthday.

It's a little bit different in Scotland.

Family Fund Mobility Support is available to help families raising a disabled or seriously ill child under the age of three.
