Praised for its retro-futuristic looks, premium interior and quality fit and finish, the all-electric ORA Funky Cat is the first of many models that will be introduced in the UK under the GWM ORA brand. For now, the ‘First Edition’ iteration of the ORA Funky Cat is available through the Motability Scheme with delivery in as little as one week and comes equipped with a very high specification as standard – including features like 360 cameras, electric front seats, internet radio and intelligent voice assistant.
In addition, ORA Funky Cat comes with a 48kWh battery offering a WLTP electric range of 193 miles and a deceptively roomy interior with plenty of space for rear passengers. Based on 15% – 80% charge status, 6.6kW home charging will take users around 5 – 6 hours. This time is cut drastically when moving up to 11kW on-street charging, which takes around 3 – 4 hours. Additionally, rapid charging will take around customers around 40 minutes.
To offer complete peace of mind, the vehicle is backed by a very comprehensive 5-year vehicle, unlimited mileage warranty with cover on the battery for 8-years or 100,000 miles. Service intervals are in-line with best-in-class competitors, scheduled every 2 years or 18,000 miles, whichever comes first.
As standard, ORA Funky Cat 'First Edition' is presented with a Nebula Green exterior paint finish and a black interior, Motability customers can also opt for an alternative colour at no extra cost. This includes: Starry Black metallic paint with matching black interior, Mars Red with contrasting Starry Black roof and a red and beige interior and Aroura Green with a Moonlight White contrasting roof with green and beige interior.
In testing, ORA Funky Cat achieved very strong results in the Euro NCAP safety tests which were conducted late last year. GWM ORA’s launch model achieved the highest score in the ‘Small Family Car’ category overall, based on its results for Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, Vulnerable User Protection and Safety Assist technologies. ORA Funky Cat achieved a full five-star rating and was awarded the ‘best-in-class’ title.
Similarly, the brand achieved a five-star rating through Europe’s most comprehensive series of environmental performance-based laboratory and road tests. Green NCAP, which conducts the tests, measures vehicles through three important indexes: clean air, energy efficiency and greenhouse gas. ORA Funky Cat scored 10/10, 9.5/10 and 9.8/10 respectively. Most notably, ORA Funky Cat reported a grid-to-battery output at an impressive 93.2% when charging at 11kW, one of the highest recorded efficiency scores ever documented by Green NCAP.
GWM ORA has also recently announced the launch of its new test drive centre initiative, which provides additional coverage and support for the brands existing Retailer network. Strategically located, the new sites will offer the same lively and colourful corporate identity as the main Retailer sites, just on a smaller scale. The new test drive centres will be managed by a mix of existing GWM ORA Retail groups, including Peter Vardy, Chorley and South West. This brings the total number of GWM ORA customer service points to 26, including both traditional sales and aftersales sites as well as the newly launched test drive centres.
