One of the inevitable effects of the lockdown is that we’re all driving our cars less, with many Motability customers advised to not drive their cars at all. It’s important to keep looking after your car while it's parked up at home to make sure it runs smoothly when the time comes for you to start driving it again. Here are 3 simple tips from Ben, AA Patrol of the year, to help you keep your Motability car in great condition during the lockdown.
Battery: Stop your battery going flat by keeping it charged. All you need to do is start the engine and keep it ticking over for around 15 minutes once a week. Remember to do this outside of a garage (if you have one) and never leave your car unattended.
Brakes: If your vehicle is parked up for a long time it's possible that the brakes could seize up. So, while the engine is running simply move the car forwards and backwards a few times and use the brake.
Tyres: Check the condition of your tyres and the pressures, inflating them if they need extra air. Look out for damage, like cuts or bulges.
