The Motability Advanced Payment prices for quarter 2 2019 were released on April 1st, offering qualifying people in the UK with a disability a choice of around 2100 cars, SUV’s and MPV’s that could all be ordered at a Motability dealer through the Motability Scheme.
New Cars Added To The Scheme
New cars added to the Motability Scheme in April include the BMW 3 Series Touring Estate (available from £2249 Advance Payment), the stylish all-new Seat Tarraco SUV with 7 seats as standard (from £799 Advance Payment) and the all-new Mazda CX-5 (from £1499 Advance Payment). Mercedes Benz have added 3 C-Class models, including one estate. Alfa Romeo have also brought the impressive Giulia saloon back onto the scheme for quarter 2, with two models available at a whopping £3750 Advance Payment.
Popular Motability Cars For Quarter 2 2019
The BMW 2 Series 218i SE Tourer has been reduced to £99 Advance Payment this quarter (was £249) and comes with automatic tailgate, BMW navigation and parking sensors as standard. The 7-seat version of the same car has increased from £399 to £499 Advance Payment. The BMW X1 sDrive SE SUV has been reduced by £150, to £749 Advance Payment.
Pricing for the all-new Citroen C5 Aircross SUV looks unchanged, with the range starting from a competitive £495 Advance Payment for the Citroen C5 Aircross 1.2 PureTech Feel version.
DS have dropped the Advance Payment for their DS7 Crossback 1.2 PureTech Elegance model, down from £1649 in quarter 1 to £999 this month.
It looks like Ford have dropped the price of many of their ever-popular Focus models, with the impressive Focus ST-Line X 1.0L 5 door automatic down from £645 to £495. The estate version of the same model has also been reduced to £645, a saving of £250. The larger Mondeo is not available through Motability this quarter.
Honda have reduced the Advance Payment of the frugal Civic 1.6 i-DTEC 120 SR 5 door, down from £399 in quarter 1 to just £99 this quarter. This car is one of the more economical available on the Motability Scheme, boasting low CO2 emissions of just 93g/km and a claimed combined fuel economy of 62.8 miles per gallon.
Even better though is the Hyundai IONIQ. The IONIQ 1.6 GDi Premium Hybrid has been reduced to just £0 Advance Payment. This car has a hybrid engine that emits just 84g/km of CO2 plus an impressive specification that includes bluetooth, DAB digital radio, alloy wheels and dual-zone electronic climate control. The Hyundai i800 range has also come down in price, with the entry model now just £299 and the top of the range SE Nav automatic reduced to £999 Advance Payment. The Hyundai i800 is great for anyone looking for a large, 8 seat MPV. The rumour though is that Hyundai will stop taking orders on the i800 at some point during this quarter, so if this is the vehicle you want we suggest you get your order in early.
Jeep have reduced the price of many Renegade SUV models. The Renegade 1.0 GSE T3 120hp Sport requires £0 Advance Payment, with the Longitude now starting from just £95, a reduction of £250. Many Jeep Compass models have also come down in price, some by around £300.
It looks like Kia have removed the popular Kia Niro from the Motability Scheme in quarter 2. The Kia Sportage SUV can still be ordered with £0 Advance Payment for the entry model.
The Mazda CX-5 is back on the scheme, and its baby brother - the CX-3 - looks to have come down in price this quarter. The entry level model can now be ordered with £0 Advance Payment, but the CX-3 2.0 SE-L Nav+ Automatic looks great value at just £199 Advance Payment (down from £399).
Mercedes Benz have brought down the Advance Payment on some new A Class models. The Mercedes Benz A Class A180 SE 5 door can now be ordered with £249 Advance Payment.
The Mini 3 door, 5 door and Countryman are all available to order this quarter from £0 Advance Payment. The Mini Countryman Cooper S Classic Sport Automatic looks good value at £499 Advance Payment, unchanged from last quarter.
Nissan only have the Micra, Juke and Qashqai available through the scheme at the moment. The 5 door Nissan Micra Acenta Automatic with the Vision Pack includes rear view camera, rear parking sensors and satellite navigation for just £49 Advance Payment. The Nissan Qashqai is regularly the best-selling car through the Motability Scheme, and right now the Qashqai 1.5 dCi Acenta Premium – featuring front and rear parking sensors, rear view camera, satellite navigation and lane departure warning system – can be ordered with £0 Advance Payment.
Prices appear to have dropped on many Peugeot 3008 SUV models. For example, the sporty 3008 GT Line 1.2 130 has been reduced to £1099 Advance Payment, down from £1499 last quarter. The 308 SW Estate 1.2 130 Tech Edition is still £499, and comes with a host of extra features over the Allure model, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, reversing camera, blind spot detection plus much more.
Motability customers looking for a car that costs less than their mobility allowance (giving you money back to spend as you wish) could consider the Renault Captur TCE Play. This small crossover – which features keyless entry, DAB radio and air conditioning – is available with £0 Advance Payment and around £5.00 back every week.
SEAT have a very strong range of cars and keen Advance Payment prices available to Motability customer this quarter. They have added the new 7-seat Tarraco SUV to the scheme, starting from £799 for the Tarraco 1.5 TSi EVO SE, but at £999 the Xcellence – which adds 19 inch machined alloy wheels, Alcantara sports seats, satellite navigation, park assist and keyless entry – looks better value. With high-end Volkswagen Golf’s currently so expensive on the scheme, customers looking for a well-equipped 5 door hatchback should look at the SEAT Leon range, as the top spec Leon Xcellence Lux 2.0 TSI 190PS automatic is currently available with £0 Advance Payment. The top-of-the-range SEAT Arona Xcellence Lux SUV is also available with nothing to pay upfront (as is the rest of the Arona range, with the exception of the 1.5 TSI 150 FR Sport).
Skoda have 3 models available this month with £0 Advance Payment: the CITIGO, the Fabia and the Octavia. The pick of the Skoda Motability range though is probably the Skoda KAROQ SE 2.0 TDI 150PS at £595 Advance Payment.
Smart have reduced the Advance Payment of their EQ fortwo and forfour emission-free electric range. The smart fortwo EQ now starts at £449 Advance Payment, while the larger 4 seat, 4 door smart forfour EQ starts at £1299.
The majority of Suzuki cars available through the scheme can be ordered with £0 Advance Payment. The new Vitara SUV is perhaps the best model Suzuki have available at the moment, with the Vitara 1.4 Boosterjet SZ-T automatic at £0 Advance Payment the version that stands out to us.
The Toyota C-HR (Coupe High Rider) is another model that stands out, with the range starting from £0 Advance Payment. The Toyota C-HR ICON Hybrid – with its 1.8 litre hybrid automatic engine - stays at £245 this quarter, and it looks a great deal with adaptive cruise control, parking camera and automatic gearbox. Drivers looking for a vehicle that can carry more than 5 people should take a look at the Toyota Prius + 7 seat Hybrid, available from £0 Advance Payment with reversing camera, smart entry, push-button start, alloy wheels and Toyota Safety Sense as standard.
Vauxhall have two automatic models available at £499 Advance Payment that look good value for money this quarter. The practical Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer 1.4 Elite Nav 150PS Turbo automatic and Vauxhall’s newest SUV, the Grandland X 1.2 SE 130PS Turbo automatic, can both be driven away for less than £500.
Although Advance Payment prices for the Volkswagen Golf start from just £49, the majority of the mid-to-high trim levels currently require an Advance Payment in excess of £1000, which is why many Motability customers looking for a 5 door hatchback will looking at alternatives this quarter. For example, the Golf 1.5 TSi R-Line has jumped from £699 to £2999. Models that start from £0 Advance Payment this quarter include the Up!, the Polo and the T-ROC SUV. The Tiguan Allspace range is still available, starting from £1149 Advance Payment.
Volvo have added more versions of their award-winning XC40 SUV, with the R Design and Inscription trim levels now available to order. It’s relatively expensive though, with the range starting at £2899 Advance Payment.
