Mercedes-Benz have announced that the 2021 Mercedes-Benz Vito will get several updates, including an improved all-electric eVito Tourer passenger van version with room for up to 9 passengers.
Designed to be a ride-share taxi, hotel shuttle or an adaptable specialist MPV, the new eVito Tourer is paired with the 90kWh lithium-ion battery stored in the vehicle's underbody which should have a positive effect on the eVito Tourer handling.
The Mercedes-Benz eVito Tourer comes as standard with a water-cooled on-board charger with alternating current with an output of 11 kW. This means that it is also prepared for AC charging at home or public charging stations. The battery is charged up via the CCS-charging connection located near the front bumper of the eVito Tourer. It enables DC charging, which means the eVito Tourer, with a maximum output of up to 110 kW, can be charged from 10-80 % capacity in under 45 minutes at a rapid charging station.
Mercedes say that the battery (with a usable capacity of 90 kWh) facilitates a range of around 261 miles.
Like most electric vehicles, the eVito Tourer is also able to charges its batteries when driving by capturing overrun and braking energy that would otherwise be wasted and puts it back into the battery.
Customers will benefit from the diverse seat configurations available. With two rear bench seats the eVito Tourer becomes a comfortable shuttle MPV. Thanks to its flexible seating configuration options the eVito Tourer can be equipped with up to nine seats or there's the option of face-to-face seating. There are two cabin lengths available; 5140mm and 5370mm.
The updated Mercedes-Benz eVito also boasts an improved range of infotainment options and active safety functions as standard. Hopefully the new Mercedes-Benz eVito Tourer will be added to the Motability price guide later this year.
