Fish’s Disability Insurance Policy specifically covers adapted cars and WAVs, and you can now purchase your cover from Fish online at your own convenience.
As a disability insurance specialist, they know that if your vehicle is adapted it’s not typically to boost its performance or looks, but to be more functional for you. So, as long as you tell them it’s adapted for your disability needs, these items will be covered.
It’s important to compare the benefits of specialised disability car insurance cover with standard policies because you need to make sure the insurer understands your needs and is offering the right cover for you.
Wheelchair Cover – Fish will contribute up to £2500 towards the repair or replacement of mobility equipment if it gets damaged in an accident involving your vehicle.
Courtesy Vehicle – If you’re involved in an accident that’s not your fault, their partner, Proximo, will provide you with a suitably adapted courtesy car or WAV while your own vehicle is being fixed.
Adaptations – Fish will cover loss or damage to vehicle adaptations for replacement as new up to the limit stated on the schedule. Excludes any deliberate damage by anyone allowed to drive under the policy and any changes or modifications to the car that have not been disclosed.
Fish Rescue Service – Their breakdown and recovery service is designed specifically for wheelchair users and includes Roadside Assistance with Local Recovery, At Home Assistance, Alternative Travel, Emergency Overnight Accommodation, and Misfuelling.
Motability Driving Experience – If you have recently left the Motability Scheme and haven’t had an accident, Fish can convert your driving experience with Motability into a No-Claims Discount (NCD).
Any-Driver Policy – This option allows anyone aged 21 or over to drive your vehicle without the need to notify Fish. It’s important to note that drivers who have made a claim within the last 3 years, or drivers that have had a motoring conviction within the last 5 years must be named on the policy.
