New MG Estate With 214 Miles Of Electric Range
MG's Head of Sales and Marketing, Daniel Gregorious, confirmed earlier this year that the brand was aiming to add the new MG5 EV to its electric vehicle range before the end of the year, with deliveries set to start soon after.
Size-wise, the MG5 EV has a length of just over 4.5 metres – roughly similar to the estate version of the Vauxhall Astra - with a boot size of 578 litres to the roof, which rises to 1,456 litres with the rear seats folded down. On the inside, expect plenty of room for five people to travel in comfort and a dashboard layout and infotainment systems similar to what can already be found in the MG ZS EV.
A 52kWh battery will give the MG5 EV an expected range of 214 miles (WLTP), with charging from empty to 100% using a type 2 fast charger possible in around eight and a half hours (or from empty to 80% in around 50 minutes using a CCS connection). Performance figures indicate that the MG5 EV will accelerate from 0 to 62mph in around 7.7 seconds, with a top speed of 115mph.
Speaking about the new MG5 EV, Gregorious said: “It’s exciting because it’ll be our first model that’s truly unique in the market. We expect success but it’ll be fascinating to see how it plays with fleet and business customers.”
A plug-in Hybrid version of the popular MG HS SUV has also been announced, with an electric-only range of up to 32 miles.
