How Do I Know If I Qualify For A Motability Vehicle?

To join the Motability Scheme, you need to currently benefit from one of the following government funded Mobility Allowances:

  • The Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) - worth £64.50 a week
  • The Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) - worth £64.50 a week
  • Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Child Disability Payment (Scotland) - worth £64.50 a week
  • The Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP) - worth £64.50 a week
  • The War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS) - worth £72.00 a week

The Motability Scheme helps disabled people be more mobile by exchanging their Mobility Allowance for a brand new car. It's only the mobility element of the allowance that is exchanged for a vehicle, not the whole allowance. You also need at least 12 months' award length remaining.

Unfortunately, the Attendance Allowance cannot be used to lease a vehicle through the Motability Scheme.
