The main benefit of a second-hand WAV is the reduction in the time you have to wait to take delivery of your vehicle. You can usually visit a supplier or book a home demonstration, purchase your WAV and take delivery of it in just a few weeks (depending on the adaptations you may need and your location).

A second-hand WAV is also much cheaper than a brand new one, plus if you buy your WAV privately you won't have to pay an upfront Motability Advance Payment or surrender your higher or enhanced rate Mobility Allowance (assuming you qualify for the Motability Scheme).

There are pros and cons for both leasing a Motability WAV and privately buying one yourself, but remember if you do choose to buy your own WAV you'll have to pay extra for things like insurance, regular servicing, MOT tests and repairs.

If you need a WAV as soon as possible, or you’re looking for a more affordable option but still want to use the Motability Scheme, a nearly-new Motability vehicle is a faster and more affordable way to lease a WAV.

Motability’s nearly-new WAV’s are all under three years old, come with a lower or no upfront Advance Payment and the same worry-free Motability package as standard - insurance for up to three drivers, full breakdown cover, annual road tax, tyre cover, windscreen replacement cover and servicing and maintenance at an authorised dealership for the length of your lease.

If you choose a nearly new WAV, the term of the lease is reduced to three years and the mileage allowance to 60,000 miles over that period.

Not all new WAVs are available through the Motability nearly new WAV scheme, and there is always a very limited range of WAVs in stock at any time.
